- In 1929, The Indians defeat the Yankees, 4 - 3, in the first game in major league history in which players from both teams wear numbers on the back of their jerseys.
- In 1955, At Yankee Stadium, Mickey Mantle hits home runs from both sides of the plate for the first time in his major league career. The New York Yankees slugger finishes the game with three home runs - two left-handed and one right-handed - and drives in all of his team's runs in a 5 - 2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.
- In 1965, Catfish Hunter makes his MLB debut for the Kansas City Athletics
